Covid-19 Update

In the wake of Covid-19 pandemic, Chicago Buddhist Vihara has adopted policies recommended by Illinois Department of Health and CDC. The Health and safety of our members and monks are our utmost priority. Please read below carefully for guidelines.

Dana Procedure (Effective July 1st)

Friends who bring food to the temple on a monthly basis may bring in food for the Hamuduruwo if you chose to from July 1st onwards. However, we expect to be responsible and follow all the guidelines set forth by the CDC and the State of Illinois.

  • Please make sure all the sanitary procedures are followed including face masks
  • Please comply with all the social distancing protocols
  • Minimize the number of people visiting at a time
  • Make sure to clean your hands

Please make sure to bring Dane in disposable containers or ZipLock bags as much as possible to avoid returning of containers

Please note that due to health concerns, we continue to discourage restaurant deliveries and/or by third parties. Thank you for your understanding.

In-Person Meditation & Dhamma Discussions

We have decided to continue to hold Dhamma Discussions and the Meditations programs through remote Zoom meeting and the links of the Zoom meetings are published on the home page.

Temple Visitation

  • When visiting the temple, please continue to wear facemasks.
  • Please refrain from visiting as a group. Please visit with your own family members only. This will help reduce cross-contamination.
  • Please maintain social distancing with the monks.
  • Please make an appointment with the residing monk before visiting the temple to avoid scheduling conflicts.

Mass Gatherings

  • All the mass gatherings are canceled until further notice.
